As the number of people in the United States who are Obese Increase, so will the number of weight related illness’ increase and so there would be more options to losing weight faster and easier without hassle or stress. This is where the weight loss pills being advertised everywhere is put into play. These weight loss pills claim they can help you lose as much as 30 Lbs in as little as a month by working against your body so to say. These pills have not been FDA approved and so the health risks may not even be known or some may be known but oblivious to the signs and symptoms. This is where the health care system and nurses come into play. These people who try to lose weight the quick way later have complications related to the “so called miracle pills” and are brought into the hospital to be taken care of. These complications may range from diarrhea to worse situations like hypertension. This is a huge workload for the health care system as it may increase the number of serious cases in the hospital.
As healthcare professionals, we should be able to advice a patient who is not in serious need of these drugs to avoid taking them and also that they should see the doctor before they start to do so. These measures would at least reduce a considerable number of those brought into the hospital with problems related to weight loss pills. This would help us as health care professionals to avoid all these cases.
Consumers should also take note of these pills because of their health and the possible side effects. As these drugs have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and so some insurance providers may not cover you in case of complications. Also do not take these drugs without being under a doctor’s care because the doctor has to keep track of your medical history in case of complications. These drugs are being sold all over the internet and consumers should avoid buying them from these internet sellers.

I think that people should not buy this drug especially if the side effects have not be properly defined and the drug itself has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. If people really want to lose the weight they should either work out, which compared to the hospital bills you're gonna have to pay from the health complications will cost virtually nothing, or they can get liposuction or gastric bypass. It's never good taking the easy way out especially when it comes to your health
ReplyDeleteWell I think people should not buy drugs from the internet cause it's the internet, anyone can say anytthing without been traced so it's not wise. I see a lot of things on the internet, there is this recent thread on "getting ripped in 4 weeks", where they claim there is this miracle pill to make a man ripped in just a month, they even say that's what Hugh Jackman used in getting ripped for his hit movie x men origins, so there is a lot of stuff on the internet. My point is don't use any drug you know nothing about. Consult your doctor before taking any drug. If you wanna lose weight or get ripped do it the traditional way, get in a gym and work your butt out.
ReplyDeletei believe drug awareness should be made available in the best possible way, advert on Television, internet, billboard and mag. people should be educated on how to appreciate their body and feel good rather than hate what they have. i agree with the fact that "prevention is better than cure"so if u don't want to gain weight watch what u eat(this so many people should know, rather than consume and then look 4 the fastest way to burn).
ReplyDeleteI believe "miracle weight loss" pills exist, however, I am not certain they do everything they claim they do. They tend to claim heaven on earth with incredibly convincing adverts...
ReplyDeletepeople should stop being lazy, the best way to loose weight is not by taking pills they should form the habit of walking out ie exercise this way they will naturally loose weight without any health hazards.....people that engage in taking all these pills are not discipline cos they eat whatever that comes their way
ReplyDeletei like this....ppl should be more aware abt the dangers of these pills, who ever wrote this good job
ReplyDeleteI believe people should be OPENLY aware of the side effects of these drugs because some of these companies hide the truth from the public.
ReplyDeletei think its criminal not to display any possible side effects that could be experienced due to consuming such pills or medication while @ d same time hyping all it is supposed to do.It smacks of crass greed from the manufacturers and also makes you question the society that has managed to create a market for these products.I think there cant ever be enough publicity as to d dangers of consuming these drugs, especially when not licensed and fora such as this will go a long way in educating people who sadly are almost completely ignorant or refuse to wake up to the dangers of taking these sort of pills.
ReplyDeleteLosing weight takes a healthy diet and lots of exercise, taking diet pills can have serious effect on the body. My friend started to take some diet pills as she wanted to look thin for her wedding. Doing her daily activities was a drag as she was always nauseated and had no energy due to her unhealthy eating habits. She eventually stop taking diet pills and gain more weight than what she had taken off. I think diet pills work in the short term, but the long term effect is lasting and can cause more complications. Please if anyone wants to lose weight go the old fashion way and exercise, exercise, exercise and you'll see true resluts that will have lasting effects.

ReplyDeleteFor a person to be healthy and strong exercise has to be apart of their daily routine. Taking diet pills to lose weight can be dangerous to one's health, think about it every medication that one takes has side effects or symptoms sometimes gets worse. Therefore, taking diet pills to lose weight is unhealthy probably the bad effects are not seen now but in the long run it'll be seen.
ReplyDeleteGreat article! Quite informative and an extremely relevant issue.
ReplyDeleteIncreased knowledge about the adverse effects of 'weight loss pills' is very important cos it will inadvertly lead to greater national productivity by reducing the morbidity and mortality rate of the country. More emphasis should be placed on healthy diet and exercise as the hallmark for a healthy lifestyle.
It is quiet fascinating how people allow themselves get easily decieved especially by things that have to do with weight loss. it would make a big difference if people understood that most of these pills have disadvantages which totally outweigh the advantages. Also, I think marketing drugs which have not been approved by the FDA is inappropriate.
